Some people fall in love with someone at first but even if the relationship isn't going well, they can't leave that person. Usually when this occurs, the person has a need the other person has. The need can be sexual, financial, security, or companionship.
When the couple finally break up, one person is often left heart broken because they feel a since of loss without the need they were so dependent upon for survival. Some people just get too comfortable in their relationship to leave. They are just used to being with that person and even though they may not even feel love for them anymore, the idea that they "have someone" outweighs the reason why they are in the relationship in the first place. Here are some ways to find out if your relationship is based on love or need.
1. Some people want to get in a relationship with another person simply because of the high expectations they have of the other person. This is common in people who only date other of high social status, the college jock or head cheerleader.
2. Its common for people to get into a relationship with someone else simply because of their looks. Most times, they completely disregard their character, education, or if they can in fact make them happy.
3. Some people love the idea that they are in a relationship and the fact that if the relationship ever ended that no one else will love them the same. These people are in love with being in love, when often times, they aren't in love at all.
4. There are people who are so comfortable in the lifestyle they live in that they don't want to leave a person they don't love for the simple fact that they don't want to be in a position to get a real job and take care of their self.
It's a shame when people get so attached to having a certain need that they disregard their own feelings and well-being. They get so caught up in how the need makes them feel that they don't even think about relationship until it's gone. To make sure that the person you are dating loves you unconditionally, ask them what they really like in the relationship.
